This workshop has been organized at the request of the Ministry of Economy of El Salvador who are seeking to catch up with their notification commitments in the area of agriculture. The workshop will have a special focus on domestic support notification commitments where El Salvador has a six-year backlog of notifications. The workshop will have three main objectives: (i) to familiarize participants with the basic provisions of the Agreement on Agriculture; (ii) to cover in depth the transparency commitments that emanate from this Agreement and are applicable to El Salvador; and (iii) to familiarize participants with the work of the Committee on Agriculture and in particular with the review process of this Committee. The workshop will combine presentations and practical exercises; and will include a notification clinic that will provide a platform to discuss specific technical problems faced in the preparation of agricultural notifications, particularly those relating to domestic support.
