Description
The WTO E-Learning programme provides online training for government officials from eligible developing countries and economies in transition. WTO E-Learning courses are a unique opportunity for participants to improve their trade-related knowledge from anywhere at any time. This flexibility allows participants to combine learning with their daily work. All courses are delivered by the ITTC E-Learning Unit. Registration in the E-Learning courses allows participants to benefit not only from the E-Learning materials prepared by WTO experts, but also from the continued monitoring and assistance of the E-Learning team as well as participation in interactive activities such as weekly chat sessions and the WTO E-Learning Community.
The objectives of E-Learning courses are to enhance the understanding of the role and functions of the WTO, to build capacity to find relevant information and documents on WTO-related issues, to facilitate the establishment of a network of professional contacts amongst participants and with WTO experts, and to engage in outreach activities. All courses have interactive elements and consist of different modules. Each module has learning objectives and is divided in lessons. At the end of each course, participants have to complete an exam. The participants who have completed successfully the course receive a certificate signed by the Director-General.
Regular interactive activities such as chat sessions and the WTO E-Learning Community are also organized and delivered by the E-Learning team as well content for Social Media (Twitter, Facebook, YouTube, LinkedIn and Instagram) created to update participants on the latest news from the WTO and discuss on-going issues. Interactive activities and Social Media foster discussion and enhance networking opportunities. They also allow participants to relate the news to their daily work and government needs as well as to exchange views with other participants with similar interests and challenges.
The course material is also available for interested individuals that are not eligible for enrolment in WTO E-Learning courses (self-study). This is an important component to increase the outreach of the WTO especially to the academia, legislators, journalists, NGOs, private sector, etc.

The target audience for WTO E-Learning are government officials from WTO Members and Observers from developing countries, LDCs, economies in transition, and countries in the process of accession to the WTO. WTO E-Learning is part of the WTO's PLS and offers courses on a basic and intermediate level as well as outside the PLS. The courses offered are in the generalist and specialist path. Some of the courses are pre-requisites for other E-Learning courses or face-to-face activities which take place in Geneva or in the regions.
Participants must also possess an excellent ability to communicate in English, French or Spanish, respectively.
Participants not eligible for enrolment in WTO E-Learning courses can access the training material for self-study.
