Description
The objective of the seminar is to increase the knowledge and capacity of Belarus' government officials involved in services negotiations in the context of the accession to the WTO. The seminar will seek to improve participants' understanding of the GATS structure, functioning, obligations and principles, with emphasis on the scheduling of specific commitments. Against that backdrop, the seminar will provide an opportunity to examine Belarus' draft schedule of specific commitments, addressing both general and sector-specific issues. The seminar will also review recent trends and developments in trade agreements covering services, and will discuss the interaction between regional/preferential and multilateral commitments and obligations.
