Description
This activity provides a comprehensive immersion into the Manual on Statistics of International Trade in Services (MSITS 2026), examining its innovations and the ways in which its implementation contributes to improving the measurement of trade in services. The programme is structured around the statistical dimensions introduced by MSITS 2026, namely “What” is traded, “With Whom” trade takes place, “How” services are traded, and “Who” trades, together with their corresponding breakdowns.
Designed for statisticians from central banks, national statistical offices, and other government agencies, the programme strengthens capacities to measure trade in services, covering everything from statistical concepts, classifications, and compilation guidance to practical approaches for data collection. In doing so, it helps countries respond to the growing demand for more detailed trade in services statistics to support evidence-based policymaking.
Reflecting the practical and participatory nature of the activity, the technical sessions are complemented by interactive quizzes, games, and hands-on exercises, as well as country experiences presented by experts who participate or have participated directly in the development of the Manual. These activities reinforce the concepts covered throughout the programme, provide practical guidance for addressing common compilation challenges, and illustrate different practical approaches to implementing the new international statistical standard.
