Description
The Services Trade Statistics Academy is a new inter-agency statistical capacity-building initiative to support compilers in developing economies in implementing the new Manual on Statistics of International Trade in Services (MSITS 2026). This inaugural Academy, funded through the Trade in Services for Development (TS4D) initiative, is intended for statisticians from central banks, national statistical offices and other government agencies directly involved in the measurement of trade in services. Priority will be given to candidates from LDCs. However, participation is open to all eligible beneficiaries, including on a self-funded basis. MSITS 2026 has been developed by the WTO, OECD, United Nations, Eurostat and the IMF, in close cooperation with national experts. It was adopted by the United Nations Statistical Commission in March 2026 as the new international statistical standard for measuring international trade in services. The WTO and the OECD coordinated this work within the international statistical community.

Governments are invited to submit candidates from their central bank, national statistical offices and other agencies involved in the measurement of trade in services. The Secretariat will select candidates according to the prerequisites mentioned below. The working language of the activity is English. Fluency in English, for the participants to actively take part in group discussions, will be an advantage.

Candidates must possess demonstrated knowledge and professional experience in the field of trade in services statistics.
