Description
The objective of the course is to provide participants from the Central and Eastern Europe, Central and the Caucasus (CEECAC) region an increased understanding of the SPS Agreement and the functioning of the SPS Committee, as well as the work of the three relevant international standard setting bodies (ISSBs): the International Plant Protection Convention (IPPC), the World Organisation for Animal Health (WOAH) and the Codex Alimentarius Commission (Codex). Participants will also have the opportunity to discuss some of the challenges experienced in the implementation of the SPS Agreement. The Workshop will also deal with the ongoing discussions in the SPS Committee, and explore opportunities of SPS-related technical assistance for the CEECAC region thanks to the involvement of the UN Industrial Development Organization and of the Standards for Trade Development Facility (STDF).

The Application Form must be returned, completed and signed by the candidate as well as by the nominating national authority which presents the candidate, via the Permanent Mission/Embassy to the WTO, to the Logistics Unit, WTO Institute for Training and Technical Cooperation.
Pre-requisite
Applications will only be considered from candidates who have experience and current job descriptions directly relevant to the subject of the Workshop. At equal level of competence, preference will be given to applicants for whom the training will be most relevant. Prior participation in WTO training activities in these areas (or equivalent training provided by another competent international organization) would be considered an advantage. Alternatively however, applicants may also show commensurate knowledge or professional experience.
