SECOND REGIONAL WORKSHOP ON MEASURING DIGITAL TRADE FOR ARAB COUNTRIES
Activity Type
Regional course/Workshop
Description
The Arab Monetary Fund (AMF) and the World Trade Organization (WTO) are jointly funding a Second Regional Workshop on Measuring Digital Trade for Arab Countries. The workshop will be held in-person at the AMF headquarters in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates.
The course is jointly organized by the International Monetary Fund (IMF), the UN Trade and Development (UNCTAD), and the World Trade Organization (WTO). In 2023, these organizations, together with the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD), published the second edition of the Handbook on Measuring Digital Trade, which provides the foundation for this training activity. In addition, the workshop will provide an overview of the ongoing revision of the Balance of Payments and International Investment Position Manual, sixth edition (BPM6), and of the international trade statistics manuals. It will also review progress in Arab countries in compiling trade in services statistics for services products which can be digitally delivered. The workshop will also benefit from close cooperation with the United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Western Asia (UNESCWA), the United Nations Statistics Department (UNSD), the Arab Institute for Training and Research in Statistics (AITRS), and various national experts.
