Description
The Workshop will initially focus on the WTO's Agreement on Government Procurement (GPA) 2012 as the only binding trade agreement with a global aspiration and an exclusive government procurement focus. It will familiarize participants with the international trade, good governance and sustainable development aspects of the GPA 2012 as well as the benefits of and process for accession to it. Building on this knowledge, the Workshop will then cover government procurement chapters in FTAs, their content, the significance of the GPA 2012 as a kind of "gold standard" and benchmark in that context, and the state-of-play in respect of market opening in the Asian region.
