Albania's Ministry of Finance and Economy, on behalf of the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development, requested a workshop regarding the transparency requirements emanating from the Agreement on Agriculture, with an specific focus on the domestic support notifications in which Albania has more than 10 years of outstanding notifications. The workshop will provide participants with an overview of the WTO, the basic provisions of the Agreement on Agriculture (AoA) and an in-depth focus on the transparency requirements emanating from the AoA applicable to Albania. The workshop will be a combination of lectures and group exercises. The objectives of the workshop are to increase the capacity of Albania to participate in the work of the Committee on Agriculture (CoA), and to enable Albania to fulfil their notification obligations, especially in relation to domestic support, in a timely manner in line with the transparency requirements prescribed by the Agreement and the notification procedures adopted by the CoA. There will be a specific focus on the domestic support notification requirements, an area in which Albania has indicated its stakeholders face the most difficulty.
