Objective: Participants will be aware of the development of global ICT trade ( i.e. tariff reduction and trade growth) in the past 25 year, and highlight the important contribution that ITA and ITA II has made in global economic development)

    Evidence: Four presentations were delivered in this session: 1. " Evolution of ICT Trade over the 25 years" by two senior statisticians of the WTO Secretariat; 2. " Digital Transformation and ICT: Opportunities and Challenges" by Mr. Jun Nakaya, Chair of Trade Policy Committee, JEITA; 3. " Perspectives from the European Semiconductor Industry on Further Expansion of Semiconductor Trade" by Mr. Hendrik Abma, Director of ESIA; 4. " The Development of China's Information Technology Industry and Future Challenges by Ms. Bing Guan, Director of China Center for Information Industry Development.

Conclusion: Objective fully achieved.

Combatting the COVID-19 pandemic: the role of the ITA products, ICT and digital solutions

Objective: Participants will understand about the role of ITA products played in global response to COVID-19 pandemic.

    Evidence: Four presentations were delivered: 1. "How the ITA has contributed to resilience in the COVID-19 Pandemic, and How to Go Forward" by Mr. Magnus Nordeus, Chair of DIGITAL EUROPE's export control and customs working group; 2. "Unlocking the Potential of Lifesaving Medical Technologies through the ITA: Removing the Barriers to Access and Responding to the COVID Pandemic" by Dr. Trevor Gunn, Adjunct Professor Georgetown University and Vice President for International Relations for Medtronic and Chair of USA Health Alliance; 3. "Smart Display Extends the Productivity of Working from Home" by Mr. Daniel Sun, CTO of TCL Industries; 4. "How Switzerland became the Home of Drones" by Ms. Larissa HAAS, Scientific advisor for Innovative Technologies, Swiss Federal Office of Civil Aviation.

"The use of Data Protection Technology in an ICT Circular Economy" by Mr. Fredrik Forslund, Vice President of Blancco Technology Group; 4. "Tradetech, the future of Trade and Implications for the ITA" by Ziyang David FAN, Head of Digital Trade, WEF; 5. "Conformity Assessment Procedures for ICT Products in Canada" by Ms. Andree-Ann Audette, ISED, Canada.

The Role of ICT as an economic development tool

Objective: Participants will gain knowledge on joining the ITA. Invite guest speakers from developing Members to share their experience of joining the ITA, or the rationale for applying to join the ITA. Representatives of international organization will also introduce recent trend of ICT trade

" How an ITA-3 can facilitate a future expansion of trade in semiconductors and related downstream products, and as such help address global challenges around health, economic recovery, sustainability, climate and secure connectivity" by Mr. Peter Proebster, Senior Director, INFNEON and on behalf of World Semiconductor Council; 3. " Moving Forward to a Sustainable Digital Trade in the post-COVID Era" by Ms. Shige Zhang, Huawei; 4. " Promoting Better, Greener, and Greater Trade in ICT Goods" by Philip Dunne, MP, UK.
