Description
The Advanced Course on the General Agreement on Trade in Services is a Level 3 training activity implemented within the WTO Progressive Learning Strategy (PLS).
The Course is targeted at mid- to senior level government officials who are directly involved in trade in services policy formulation and/or in the conduct of multilateral or preferential services negotiations. The course does not target experts from Ministries regulating individual services sectors.
The Course will aim to update the knowledge base of participants of the main GATS provisions, classification issues and scheduling of commitments, familiarize participants with existing recent developments in the field of services , and provide an overview of analytical tools available for trade in services policy analysis (I-TIP database, services statistics, Global Value Chains/investment); address selected policy issues and discuss emerging negotiating questions.

Candidates must fill out the application form attached to the invitation letter. The application form, completed and signed by the candidate and by the nominating national authority which presents the candidate, must be returned via the Permanent Mission/Embassy to the WTO. Applications and other requested information should be submitted at the latest by 30 June 2022.
A passport photocopy and one-page CV must be attached to the application.
Pre-requisite
Candidates should have completed a WTO training activity (E-Learning or a face-to-face course) on trade in services or have demonstrably commensurate knowledge or professional experience in trade in services (at least 2 years). They should also possess an excellent ability to communicate in English both orally and in writing.
