Description
This workshop on the Agreement on Agriculture is organized at the request of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Regional Integration and International Trade from Mauritius. The workshop seeks to enhance the knowledge and understanding of participants on the key provisions of the Agreement on Agriculture, the work of the Committee of Agriculture, and the notification procedures. This workshop is expected to contribute to the improvement of Mauritius transparency levels in relation to the Agreement on Agriculture which currently stands at low compliance level of 35%. In this regard, there will be a specific focus on the domestic support pillar, an area in which Mauritius has indicated that its stakeholders face the most difficulty. In addition, the workshop seeks to enhance the capacity of Mauritius' government officials to effectively engage in the ongoing WTO agriculture negotiations.
