Introduction to the WTO.

Number of participants: Men(39) / Women(38)

Objective: At the end of the session, participants will have acquired some practical knowledge about the WTO, its historical background, its main functions, and the way it is structured.

Category: Improve general understanding of the WTO

Indicators:
  • Indicator: Participants opinion

    Evidence: Among those who attended Session 1 and filled out the evaluation form, 49 participants (i.e. 94 percent) confirmed their satisfaction and indicated success in achieving the objective for Session 1 (67 percent considered it very successful and 27 percent as successful). Three participants (i.e. 6 percent) considered Session 1 as satisfactory.

  • Indicator: Participation – frequency and quality of the interventions / questions raised, contribution to group work

    Evidence: Session 1 generated significant interest among the participants who asked several follow up questions.

Conclusion: Session 1 was fully successful.

Basic Legal Principles of GATT∕WTO.

Objective: At the end of the session, participants will have strengthened their general understanding of the WTO basic legal principles.

  • Indicator: Participants opinion

    Evidence: Among those who attended Session 2 and filled out the evaluation form, 49 participants (i.e. 98 percent) confirmed their satisfaction and indicated success in achieving the objective for Session 2 (62 percent considered it very successful and 36 percent as successful). One participant (i.e. 2 percent) considered Session 2 as satisfactory.

  • Indicator: Participation – frequency and quality of the interventions / questions raised, contribution to group work

    Evidence: Session 2 generated significant interest among the participants who asked several follow up questions.

Conclusion: Session 2 was fully successful.

Current Issues and Preparations for MC12.

Objective: At the end of the session, participants will have become familiar with ongoing work at the WTO, the latest developments in the negotiations and preparations for the 12th WTO Ministerial Conference.

    Evidence: All 48 participants who attended Session 3 and filled out the evaluation form confirmed their satisfaction and indicated success in achieving the objective for Session 3 (71 percent considered it very successful and 29 percent as successful).

    Evidence: Session 3 generated significant interest among the participants who asked several follow up questions.

WTO Resources and Tools - Library, Website and "Documents Online" system.

Objective: At the end of the session, participants will have acquired practical knowledge on how to retrieve WTO-related documents and information through the Library, WTO website and the "Documents Online" system.

Category: Build capacity to use WTO electronic tools to access information or comply with WTO provisions (e.g. databases, portals, etc.)

  • Indicator: Participants opinion

    Evidence: Among those who attended Session 4 and filled out the evaluation form, 37 participants (i.e. 90 percent) confirmed their satisfaction and indicated success in achieving the objective for Session 4 (51 percent considered it very successful and 39 percent as successful). Four participants (i.e. 10 percent) considered Session 4 as satisfactory.

  • Indicator: Participation – frequency and quality of the interventions / questions raised, contribution to group work

    Evidence: Session 4 generated interest among the participants who asked follow up questions.

Conclusion: Session 4 was fully successful.

Trade-related Technical Assistance and Capacity Building - TA activities and programmes, procedural aspects and E-Learning platform.

Objective: At the end of the session, participants will have updated their knowledge about WTO TRTA activities and programmes, procedural aspects (online requests, activities publicized on the WTO website and submission of online applications) and the E-Learning platform.

Category: Improve knowledge of WTO Agreements or particular area of Agreements, of WTO negotiations, of WTO Committees or WTO subjects

  • Indicator: Participants opinion

    Evidence: Among those who attended Session 5 and filled out the evaluation form, 37 participants (i.e. 97 percent) confirmed their satisfaction and indicated success in achieving the objective for Session 5 (58 percent considered it very successful and 39 percent as successful). One participant (i.e. 3 percent) considered Session 5 as satisfactory.

  • Indicator: Participation – frequency and quality of the interventions / questions raised, contribution to group work

    Evidence: Session 5 generated significant interest among the participants who asked several follow up questions.

Conclusion: Session 5 was fully successful.
