Description
Nigeria on behalf of ECOWAS requested this regional workshop on health, intellectual property and trade for the benefit of government officials from ECOWAS Member States in addition to ECOWAS Secretariat officials. The activity is designed to enhance officials' capacity to undertake a coherent and integrated approach to their health, intellectual property and trade policymaking efforts. It will provide an overview of the public health context in the region, the role of IPRs in innovation of and access to health technologies and other trade-related determinants in access to health technologies. The workshop will also include a session on technical assistance priority needs for health, intellectual property and trade capacity building which will comprise a roundtable with a focus on policymaking in the context of the COVID-19 pandemic as well as an exchange with participants on their capacity building needs.
