The main objectives of the workshop is to improve the knowledge of the government officials in different ministries on the Agreement on Agriculture by improving their understanding of: the provisions of the Agreement as well as the related implementation obligations; the work of the Agriculture Committee; the various transparency tools, including the Ag-IMS data system, that are available to them to follow the relevant developments and discussions in the domain of agriculture as well as to access the official documents. Participants will also be exposed to the key issues that have been considered in the agriculture negotiations including the outcomes reached on some of those issues at the last three Ministerial Conferences. The paricipants would also enhance their knowledge of the WTO Agreement on Sanitary and Phytosanitary measures . The Workshop should facilitate a more effective participation of the governement officials to the work of the Committee on Agriculture and in the agriculture negotiations, and to the Work of the Commitee on Sanitary and Phytosanitary measures.
