Title of the activity
AMF-WTO REGIONAL WORKSHOP ON TRADE POLICY ANALYSIS FOR ARAB COUNTRIES
Activity Type
Regional course/Workshop
Description
This workshop will introduce participants to various methodologies for analysing trade flows and trade policies, outlining how different tools are used by trade policy researchers, with particular emphasis on gravity modelling, while also discussing computable general equilibrium modelling and new quantitative trade models.
Participants will also gain familiarity with key data sources related to trade and trade policy.
The course is based on the Practical Guide to Trade Policy Analysis, published by UNCTAD and the WTO, and additional material on CGE modelling.
The aim is to both provide analytical tools to government analysts doing the actual quantitative analysis and to help trade policy makers gain a better understanding of how quantitative trade analysis is conducted and what to pay attention to when comparing studies.
