Title of the activity
National Activity on Trade and Environment
Activity Type
National
Description
Context: This national activity, requested by the Government of Indonesia, follows up on the initial engagement held in May 2024 as part of the Action on Climate and Trade (ACT), a pilot project launched by the WTO Secretariat in collaboration with the World Bank and the World Economic Forum. Building on the mission held in May, the three institutions conducted a five-month policy research effort aimed at delivering actionable recommendations on how trade and trade policies could further support Indonesia's climate goals.

Objectives: The objectives of the upcoming activity in November are to: (i) present and discuss with relevant government officials the findings of the policy research, with a focus on how trade and trade policies can support Indonesia's climate strategies, including the implementation and update of its Nationally Determined Contributions (NDCs) and National Adaptation Plan (NAP) under the UNFCCC framework; (ii) share these findings with relevant stakeholders from the public and private sectors through a Public-Private Dialogue; and (iii) discuss with relevant government officials a possible action plan for the analysis' recommendations.
