Description
Implemented within the WTO progressive learning strategy, the course represents the highest level of learning among WTO training activities. Due to its advanced nature, the course targets participants who already possess a sound knowledge of the WTO system in general and issues at the interface of trade and environment / climate change at national and international levels. It encourages the active involvement of participants and will address key trade and environmental issues.

This two-week trade and environment advanced course will comprise a series of sessions, including lectures, interactive discussions, exercises, simulations, and debates. Furthermore, participants will collaborate in small groups on a project to be presented at the end of the course.

This course is particularly important as it fosters inter-ministerial collaboration, bridging gaps and enhancing coordination between trade and environmental policies. It equips participants with the skills to address contemporary challenges, ensuring a holistic approach to sustainable development.

selection process
The nomination process for selecting participants for the WTO Advanced Trade Policy Course on Trade and Environment is designed to ensure a diverse and knowledgeable group of attendees. Government officials from the Ministry of Trade, Ministry of Environment, and other relevant Ministries and authorities are encouraged to apply. Nominations should be submitted through the official channels by the respective Ministries, highlighting the candidate's qualifications and the current work/function relevance to the course objectives.
Pre-requisite
Professional Experience: Candidates should have at least 3-5 years of professional experience in trade, environment, or related fields.

Relevance to Role: Demonstrated involvement in policy-making or implementation in trade or environmental areas.

Commitment to Collaboration: A proven track record of inter-ministerial or inter-agency collaboration, and willingness to open inclusive dialogues.

English Proficiency: Proficiency in English, as the course will be conducted in this language.

Support from Ministry: Official nomination and endorsement from the candidate’s Ministry, highlighting the relevance of the course to their current role and future responsibilities.

These prerequisites will help ensure that participants are well-prepared to engage with the course material and contribute meaningfully to discussions on the convergence of trade and environment policies.
